SOUTHERN ELEVATOR SUPPORTS HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF EFFORTS

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 29th, 2024)—The Southern Elevator Company is proud to announce that it will support relief efforts for North Carolina citizens affected by Hurricane Helene through a unique scheme and fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for nearby communities. Southern Elevator is leveraging its’ NASCAR partnership with Ryan Ellis and Alpha Prime Racing to aid hurricane recovery efforts and hopes to encourage NASCAR fans to do the same.

Ellis’ Hurricane Helene Relief-themed Southern Elevator Chevy will compete in the National Debt Relief 250 at Martinsville Speedway this Saturday, November 2nd, at 4 p.m. ET. A QR code on the race car will direct fans to a Samaritan’s Purse donation page, where they can choose to donate money towards recovery efforts.

Just about a month ago, Hurricane Helene pummeled many areas in the U.S. and devastated parts of Western North Carolina. The unprecedented hurricane caused an estimated $53 billion in damages and recovery needs, according to North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s team. North Carolina state officials estimated that 96 deaths occurred as a direct result of the hurricane.

Southern Elevator’s team is spread throughout the affected area - in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, so the fundraiser is close to home. Fans can donate to this cause at this link.

“So much of our NASCAR community - folks within the industry and our friends, family, and fans are based in the area affected by Hurricane Helene. While my family and I were lucky not to have any major damage from the hurricane, people not too far from us suffered unimaginably. It’s extremely heartwarming to see Southern Elevator use their platform to support their community, just like they have with so many other races.” said Ryan Ellis, the No.43 Southern Elevator Chevy Camaro driver. “I’m extremely proud to represent Southern Elevator and be part of their efforts to help those in need.”

“Hurricane Helene hit our area hard as it is very rare to have a storm of this magnitude land in our area. Our community, staff, friends, and family have all been affected in some fashion. As a company that cares about our community, we want to keep these people in mind. We are asking people to use this link or QR code to donate to Samaritans Purse so that help can continue to come to people impacted by this storm.” said Southern Elevator's Chief Operating Officer Steve Phillips.
